Institute Diamond Jubilee Year Celebration and Farmer Fair


Honorable Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shri Kailash Choudhary inaugurated ‘Institute Diamond Jubilee Year Celebration and Farmer Fair’ on 4th January, 2022 at CSWRI, Avikanagar. Progressive Farmers, women, artisans, sheep rearers, agriculture and veterinary students from different parts of the state, participated enthusiastically in the event. On this occasion, Hon’ble chief guest Shri Kailash Choudhary stressed upon the PM’s dream of doubling the farmers’ income by 2022 and emphasized for adopting new and innovative technologies developed by CSWRI and other ICAR Institute/Universities. In this context he expressed that sheep and goat husbandry can play a vital role especially in dry areas to upliftment of socio-economic status of farmers. Further, he appreciated the contribution of ICAR in making country self-sufficient in food and animal production, especially, institute like CSWRI that engaged in helping poor and downward class of the society who has limited resources and land.

Hon’ble DDG (AS) Dr. B.N.Tripathi, also witnessed the occasion and he appreciated the research carried out by CSWRI for enhancing the production of sheep, goat and rabbit. Dr. Arun Kumar, Director, highlighted the significant achievements of the institute in recent years especially, development of miracle sheep breed “Avishan”,Sheep  Meat and Milk products, Wool and woolen value added products, Milk replacer, Avikhad etc. On this occasion, Member of Parliament Sh. S.S. Jaunapuria, Smt. Jaskaur Meena, MLA Sh. Kanyha lal Choudhary, Pradhan Sh. Sakhram Chopra, Vice chancellor Dr. J.S.Sandhu, Directors of ICAR Institutes Dr. O.P.Yadav, Dr.A.Sahoo, Dr. Abijeet Mitra, Dr. P.K.Rai, Dr. Amresh Chandra, Dr.S.K.Singh, Dr. B.D.Sharma and Dr. S.N.Saxena were the special guest and they appreciated the remarkable efforts of the institute in transferring improved technologies in the field area in harsh environment of semi-arid regions. During the Programe, 48 exhibitions (stalls) were displayed by different ICAR institutes, Agricultural Universities, KVKs, NGOs and agripreneurs. Nine farmers were recognized and appreciated for their significant contribution in adoption and up-scaling of improved technologies in sheep, goat and rabbit rearing and integrated farming system. Programme was coordinated by Dr. S.C.Sharma, Pr. Scientist & Dr. L.R.Gurjar, Scientist.

 

Information

Institute provides elite rams of Marwari, Magra Chokla, Malpura, Avikalin and Bharat Merino, elite bucks of Sirohi and broiler and Angora rabbit on book values to farmers, NGOs and development agencies etc. Institute disseminates the technology developed on sheep and rabbit production and utilization and improves knowledge and skill through training, consultancy, contract research, contract service, incentive and reward so that knowledge and skills developed are fruitfully utilized. Institute sold impregnated sponges and area specific mineral mixture, cenchrus grass seed and sheep manure etc. Artificial insemination, vaccination, drenching and other inputs are regularly extended to farmers as a part of technology transfer programme.
