ICAR-CSWRI celebrated 58th Foundation Day


ICAR-CSWRI Avikanagar celebrated its 58th foundation day on 4th January, 2019. At this occasion,  “Farmers-Scientist Sangosthi” was organized in which about 600 farmers interacted with institute scientists. Institute developed technologies were depicted through exhibition and live animal exhibition of elite ram, buck and rabbit was also organized. Hon’ble MLA Shri Kanhaiya Lal Choudhary as chief guest, Dr. R.S. Gandhi, ADG (Animal Science, ICAR, New Delhi) as special guest and Directors from ICAR Institute Dr. Gopal Lal (NRCSS), Dr. KhemChand (IGFRI), Dr. R. K. Sawal (NRCC), Dr. P. L. Saroj (ICAH) and Col. Sh. K.S. Shekhawat, Executive Director of CWDB, Jodhpur as Guest of Honour graced the occasion and provided valuable inputs in doubling the farmer’s income. Hon’ble MLA while addressing farmers and scientists expressed gratitude towards institute efforts for improving socio-economic conditions of farmers of the area through developed technologies in sheep rearing. He further stated that due to climatic risk and frequent drought, most of the farmers of the area inclined towards rearing of small ruminants, which are now life line of dry areas. Director Dr. Arun Kumar Tomar elaborated the technologies of institute developed in last 57 years for the benefit of farmers and emphasized for scientific rearing of sheep in order to enhance the farmer’s income. He acknowledged the gathering that institute has recently launched a mobile app “AVIMITRA” (available on google play store) and going to start a “Certificate Training Programme (which would be organized twice a year) through which young farmers may develop skill and knowledge in scientific sheep rearing. He further told that institute adopted about 60 villages and transferring its developed technologies in field area through Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav (MGMG), Farmer FIRST, Sansad Adarsh Gram Yogna (SAGY), MSSP programme and succeeded in dropping down the mortality in sheep from 20% to 5% and introduced quality sheep breeds in field area. Dr. R. S. Gandhi, at the occasion, exhorted the role of CSWRI in sustaining the life of desert dwellers and resource poor farmers. Dr. S.S. Dahiya, Director CIRB, Hisar informed in his address that CIRB will provide best quality seman for buffalo vaccination for this area through CSWRI Avikanagar. Dr. P. L. Saroj, Director CIAH Bikaner assured that CIAH has plan to introduce thorn-less high fodder khejri seedlings at CSWRI farm so that farmers of the area may be benefited in future. At the occasion, outstanding workers in Scientific, Technical and Administrative categories were rewarded and best worker were also acknowledged in “Swacha Bharat Abhiyan” for enthusiastic participation at institute cleanliness. A total of 1000 persons participated in the programme including retired persons from CSWRI, progressive farmers, institute employee and contractual workers. Farmers also expressed their opinions and benefits of being associated with the institute Transfer of Technology programmes. The celebration programme was coordinated and organized by Dr. A. Sahoo and anchored by Dr. L.R. Gurjar.




 

Information

Institute provides elite rams of Marwari, Magra Chokla, Malpura, Avikalin and Bharat Merino, elite bucks of Sirohi and broiler and Angora rabbit on book values to farmers, NGOs and development agencies etc. Institute disseminates the technology developed on sheep and rabbit production and utilization and improves knowledge and skill through training, consultancy, contract research, contract service, incentive and reward so that knowledge and skills developed are fruitfully utilized. Institute sold impregnated sponges and area specific mineral mixture, cenchrus grass seed and sheep manure etc. Artificial insemination, vaccination, drenching and other inputs are regularly extended to farmers as a part of technology transfer programme.
