BackSRRC, Mannavanur organized a training program at Veterinary College & Research Institute, (TANUVAS), Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu
Southern Regional Research Centre (SRRC) of ICAR-CSWRI, Mannavanur organized one-day training programme on “Advances in commercial sheep and rabbit farming” in association with Veterinary College and Research Institute, Tirunelveli (Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University), Tamil Nadu and The Women Education for Development (WED) charitable trust, Tiruchendur on 19.07.2022 (Tuesday). The training programme was conducted in the auditorium of Veterinary College and Research Institute (VC & RI), Tirunelveli wherein farmers from Madurai, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Kanyakumari and Tuticorin districts. An overwhelming participation of 35 women farmers among the 59 registered farmers was the highlight of the programme. With the inaugural address by Dr P Thirumurugan, the training programme set off.
On the inaugural session, Dr.A.Palanisammi, Dean, VCRI, Tirunelveli addressed the gathering and remarked that formation of Tamil Nadu Broiler Rabbit Farmers Association a. Dr.K.P.D.Prabhakar, Founder-Trustee graced the occasion and insisted up on necessity of working together to uplift the livelihood of women. Followed by, Dr.P.Thirumurugan, Dr.S.Jegaveera Pandian, Senior Scientist, SRRC and Dr. Ganesh Kumar, Asst. Professor, VCRI, Tirunelveli delivered their lecture on the technical aspects of sheep and rabbit farming. In the Interactive session, all the queries posed by the participants were addressed. Mr.M.Jeyadas (ABI Incubatee-NGO of SRRC) of WED Charitable trust and Dr.P.Thilakar, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Extension Education, VCRI, Tirunelveli coordinated and made all the arrangements for the programme.
The training programme was anchored and moderated by Dr.K.Pachaiyappan, Scientist, SRRC. One hundred copies of books on Profitable rabbit farming and sheep production were distributed to the participants at free of cost. With a vote of thanks by Dr.S.Jegaveera Pandian, the programme concluded.
