BackOne day visit cum Workshop of veterinary undergraduate students
In line with the Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav celebrations, a One Day Visit cum Workshop of 4th year B.V.Sc. & A.H. students of Post-Graduate Institute of Veterinary Education & Research (PGIVER), Jaipur was organized at ICAR-Central Sheep & Wool Research Institute, Avikanagar on 15th March, 2022. The first of its kind workshop organized in the institute was a part of Scientific Social Responsibility Program of Science and Engineering Research Board, Department of Science and Technology, GoI aiming to develop a scientific culture among students and motivate them to pursue research as a career. While interacting with students, Dr. Arun Kumar Tomar, Director emphasized the importance of the animal husbandry sector in the country and need of intensive and collaborative research in the area to improve the productivity and profitability. He urged the students to pursue their career in research, the field which has enormous opportunity for personal as well as inclusive growth. A total 25 veterinary students of 4th Year B.V.Sc. and A.H. participated in the workshop. The Scientific faculty of the institute interacted with students on visits to various laboratories and animal farms, informing them about the current research areas and future prospectus in small ruminant science. The workshop was organized by Dr. Ajit Singh Mahla, Scientist and Principal Investigator of SERB funded project “Modulation of folliculogenesis to augment prolificacy through dietary n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids in sheep”. In the SERB grantee’s laboratory, the students were introduced to various reproductive techniques in sheep and goat and importance of molecular techniques in reproductive biology. Dr. Pradeep Kumar, Assistant Professor, PGIVER, Jaipur coordinated the visit.
