BackFree Sirohi buck distribution programme to BPL Scheduled Caste goat farmers under Sirohi goat project (AICRP) on 15.02.2022



 Eleven goat farmers of Scheduled Caste Community belonging to the Below Poverty line (BPL) from neighboring village Chandsen were freely distributed one genetically improved Sirohi buck each under the SCSP component of Sirohi goat project (AICRP). The programme was organized under the Chairmanship of Dr. Arun Kumar, Director, ICAR-CSWRI, Avikanagar, who stressed on the need of rearing true to breed Sirohi goats and emphasized that the farmers take advantage of the CSWRI Institute technologies including the genetically improved Sirohi goat germplasm produced by the Institute for improvement of their goats for enhancement of income and nutritional security. He highlighted the importance of maintaining close association by the farmers with the Institute so that they can get benefitted to the maximum. Dr. R. C. Sharma, Incharge Head, Division of Animal Genetics & Breeding addressed the farmers about the benefits of goat rearing in details. The programme was organized in the context of the earlier request made by Sh. Ramswarup Meena, Sarpanch, Chandsen to Sh. Kailash Choudhary, Minister of State, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi to associate the farmers of Chandsen village with the Institute during the Hon’ble Minister’s visit to the Institute. The programme was attended by Dr. Ajay Kumar, Nodal Officer, SCSP Cell, Dr. P.K. Mallick, Co-PI, Sirohi goat project (AICRP), beneficiary farmers, their family members and all goat sector staff. The programme was coordinated by Dr. S.S. Misra, Principal Investigator, Sirohi goat project (AICRP).
