BackCelebration of Field day for adopted sheep farmers of Magra field unit
Field Day was organized at Kotda village adopted by Arid Region Campus, ICAR-CSWRI Bikaner under NWP-Magra Field Unit on 12.12.2021.About 60 adopted sheep farmers including lady farmers participated in the programme. Dr Arun Kumar Tomar, Director, ICAR- CSWRI, Avikangar was chief guest of programme. Dr A Sahoo, Director, ICAR-NRC on Camel was special guest in this occasion. Dr. R S Bhat, Incharge, Animal Nutrition Division, ICAR-CSWRI, Avikanagar and Dr F A Khan, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CSWRI, Avikanagar also graced the occasion. At the onset of program, Dr H K Narula, Head, ARC, CSWRI, Bikaner formally welcomed guests and other attendee present in the program and gave brief information regarding progress made in Magra field project since inception of the project. He appreciated the adopted farmers for cooperating with Scientists of ARC Bikaner in adoption of all technologies delivered to them. Dr Arun Kumar Tomar, Chief guest of the programme discussed in detail about present challenges and scope of sheep improvement in field conditions for higher body weight and wool yield. He pursued the farmers for adopting new technologies delivered time to time to double the income. Dr A Sahoo told to the farmers the advantages of mixed farming including camel, sheep and other animals. He also stressed on proper marketing of their lambs and wool to get more profit. Dr F A Khan narrated about judicial use of anthelmintic in field flocks. Dr R S Bhat explained about nutritional technologies feasible in field conditions. Dr Ashish Chopra, PI, Magra field unit coordinated the field day program. Dr Nirmala Saini and Dr Ashok Kumar delivered lectures on their respective field. Umbrella, Torch and Tubs were distributed among the sheep farmers. Dr Ashok Kumar gave vote of thanks in the end.
