BackInteractive meeting on Entrepreneurship Development through Integrated Sheep Farming



In lines with the ICAR’s Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav celebrations and on the occasion of golden jubilee year of Institute, the Arid Region Campus, of ICAR-CSWRI, Bikaner organized an online Interactive meeting on Entrepreneurship Development through Integrated Sheep Farming on 07.09.2021 through Google Meet web platform. About 100 members including personnel from ICAR, RAJUVAS, NABARD, wool industrialist and progressive sheep farmers participated in the meet. The interactive meet was organized as organized secretaries by Drs Ashok Kumar and Ashish Chopra. The meeting was aimed to increase knowledge and awareness of young generation about the integrated sheep farming for sustainable livelihood. Dr HK Narula, Head, ARC and Convenor of Interactive meet welcomed the dignitaries and provided an orientation to the meet with overall achievement of ARC specially in research of carpet wool production, sheep health management, nutrition and reproduction. Dr Arun Kumar Tomar, Hon’ble Director, ICAR-CSWRI, Avikanagar congratulated the ARC team for organizing the meeting & delivered his presidential address and deliberated on the pioneering efforts of the institute in sheep husbandry researches and farmers’ useful technologies. He further emphasized on area specific breed improvement to take three lambing in two years, scientific culling of the animals, rabbit farming and more plantation in the area. Dr A Sahoo, Hon’ble Director, NRC on Camel, Bikaner delivered special address and highlighted the importance of feeding in integrated sheep rearing. Dr N D Yadav, Head, ICAR-CAZRI, RSS Bikaner delivered talk on pasture development in the arid region for sustainable livelihood through sheep farming. Dr SR Sharma PS, ICAR-CSWRI Avikanagar awared the participants about the importance scientific sheep health management in sheep farming. Dr P C Bhatnagar, Head, KVK, Badgaon, Udaipur emphasized the work progress of the region on the tribal area and delivered a speech about the role of sheep husbandry in tribal area of Udaipur. Shri Ashok Kumar Surana, Wool Industrialist, Bikaner awared the participants about the status of wool demand and supply of wool, future prospects of wool industry in Bikaner. Shri Ramesh Tambia, DDM, NABARD, Bikaner talked about the scheme of NABARD in the area of livestock and agriculture for benefits of the farmers. In the last part of the programme, queries of the farmers were resolved. Dr Nirmala Saini, PS delivered the formal vote of thanks.
