BackDirector, ICAR-CSWRI visits the Northern Temperate Regional Station, Garsa (H.P)

Dr. Arun Kumar, Director, ICAR-CSWRI, Avikanagar visited the NTRS (ICAR-CSWRI), Garsa from 26.07.2021 to 29.07.2021. During his visit, he visited the Angora Rabbit Unit and Sheep Sector of the station. He had a detailed discussion with Dr. Om Hari Chaturvedi, Head (A), NTRS (ICAR-CSWRI), Garsa & Dr. Abdul Rahim, Scientist (AG&B). During the interaction Dr. Arun Kumar emphasized on the improvement of breed of the German Angora Rabbit & Gaddi Synthetic Sheep available at the station. He also gave the direction to start the conservation & breeding of Gaddi Sheep. Dr. Om Hari Chaturvedi &  Dr. Abdul Rahim also apprised the Director regarding the detailed research work being done at the station. Director, Dr. Arun Kumar also point out the importance of good quality feed for improving the production performance of the livestock of this station.

          Director graced the closing ceremony of 3 days training on the “Sheep & Rabbit Rearing” as the Chief Guest. 22 farmers participated in the training organized from 24.07.201 to 27.07.2021. In the closing ceremony, Dr. Arun Kumar informed about the importance of Sheep & Rabbit Rearing and also the fact that rearing of livestock is also a very good source of income. He also referred the Sheep, Rabbits & Goats as ATM for the farmers as these can be sold at any time when there is a need of money. He also mentioned the Sheep & Goat as 5 star as they produce milk, wool, skin, meat and manure to the farmers.

          Dr. Arun Kumar also had an interaction with the staff of the NTRS (ICAR-CSWRI), Garsa to discuss the administrative matters at the station. He informed that the staff of this station should work as a team and should cooperate with Dr. Om Hari Chaturvedi so that the image and popularity of this station should reach a new height. To make NTRS (ICAR-CSWRI), Garsa well known to all, he instructed that banners and markings may be done at prominent public places like Bhuntar Airport, Bus stands etc so that local public may also get aware of the working and mandate of the station. He also listened to the problems and suggestions of the staff to make this station more friendly for the working of staff and contractual manpower. He also suggested to regularly organize Kisan Goshti at the local villages and conduct Swachchta Abhiyan at nearby places. He also assured that full co-operation will be given to this station from ICAR-CSWRI, Avikanagar in administrative and financial proposals.
