BackVisit of Shri M.K.Stalin CM Tamilnadu to ICAR-CSWRI substation SRRC Mannavanur
At ICAR-CSWRI's substation SRRC, DMK Political party leader, Shri.M.K.Stalin (present Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu who assumed charge on 7th May 2021) visited Southern Regional Research Centre, Mannavanur, Kodaikanal – 624 103 along with his family members on 19th April 2021. At the outset, Dr. A.S. Rajendiran, Officer Incharge, SRRC, cordially welcomed the guests and briefed them about the genesis & relevance of this regional centre of ICAR- Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute. Then, Dr. P. Thirumurugan, Sr. Scientist explained about both Bharat Merino and Avikalin sheep breeds while showing the flock of sheep to Shri.Stalin. Later, Dr. G. Nagarajan, Sr. Scientist deliberated Shri.Stalin about six breeds of rabbits being maintained at SRRC. Shri.Stalin had been narrated about the overall activities of both sheep husbandry and rabbitry activities being followed at this centre by Dr.S. Rajapandi, ACTO, SRRC, Mannavanur.
As a whole, Shri.Stalin showed keen interest in the developmental activities of SRRC and interacted eagerly with staff of SRRC, by spending a time of more than one hour. Shri.Stalin further enjoyed the picturesque location of the centre and cherished the beauty of the land of Bharat Merino. He profusely appreciated the staff of SRRC for their role in catering the needs of progressive sheep farmers and rabbit entrepreneurs of southern peninsular India and expressed his happiness to this beautiful place with full of cheers. Shri.Stalin’s visit could possibly have happened because of the broader visibility of the centre amongst the farming community and State/Central Govt. institutions/ line departments striving for the well-being of livestock-based enterprises.
