BackOne day Farmers' scientist Interactive Meet MSSP Malpura sheep project



One day Farmers' scientist Interactive Meet was conducted under MSSP Malpura sheep at sector 18 of ICAR-CSWRI, Avikanagar on 10-12-2019. A total of 150 progressive sheep farmers from MSSP Malpura sheep project attended the meeting. Under the chairmanship of Dr. Raghvendar Singh Director, ICAR-CSWRI, presided the meeting and interacted with farmers of MSSP and emphasized on adoption of scientific technology to bring improvement in the flock. During the interactive meet, farmers were detailed about importance of Malpura sheep breed improvement programme and its role in improving their livelihood security. The farmers were also given insight about performance of native breed of Malpura sheep which is having high body weight along with good mothering ability and importance of this germplasm in meeting out the huge demand of mutton. Dr Arun Kumar, Head AG&B interacted with farmers and sort out their difficulties of sheep rearing in the field area. Dr S R Sharma, In-charge, Division of Animal Health, described different health issues in the field area which are incurable, and recommended effective measures to avoid the spread of infection. Dr A Sahoo, Head, Animal Nutrition, emphasised the economics of nutrition for profitable sheep farming. Dr R C Sharma, Project investigator of prolific sheep expressed his views towards "per sheep more sheep" from Avishaan. Dr S K Sankhyan and Dr D Ror had given the emphasis, fodder management and reproduction issues in the field areas. Dr C P Swarnkar, discussed about the recent health issues of sheep and their solution in the field area. Dr L R Gujar & Dr RajKumar extension scientist, spoke on importance of functioning of sheep breeders' society in the villages. The farmers put up their views and interacted with different subject matter specialists. During the programme two elite Malpura germplasm were distributed by chief guest, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Meena, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Malpura to the farmers. Sh Suresh Kumar, Chief Administrative Officer, ICAR-CSWRI, Avikanagar also attended the meeting. Dr. P. K. Mallick, Pr. Scientist (AG&B) and Principal Investigator of Malpura sheep project coordinated the programme and thanked the officials and farmers who attended the meeting.
