BackInaugurated training on Advances in Small Ruminants Production System at ICAR-CSWRI, Avikanagar
The inaugural ceremony of a six days training on “Advances in Small Ruminants Production System” was held at ICAR-CSWRI, Avikanagar, Rajasthan on 18th February 2018. This training program is sponsored by Directorate of Sheep Husbandry, Jammu, Government of Jammu and Kashmir with the objective to update the knowledge of their Veterinary Officers in recent trends in production and management of sheep and goats. The inaugural function began with the welcome of the participants of the training program, followed by ICAR song. The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Dr. Raghvendar Singh, Officiating Director and attended by Head of Divisions, Principal Scientists and other scientific and non-scientific faculty members of the institute. The training batch comprises of 10 veterinary officers of sheep husbandry, Jammu. Dr. Davendra Kumar Course-coordinator outlined that the training is planned in such a way that all the aspects of sheep production and its product processing and value addition are covered. Course contains basics and applied aspects of breeding, nutrition, physiology, reproduction and sheep health. The training also encompasses practicals on relevant subjects as well as field visits to acquire in-depth knowledge and to learn the latest technologies relevant to sheep production. Dr. Raghvendar Singh outlined about the research activities, mandate and technologies of the institute and shared the knowledge on overview of sheep production systems in India.
