The valedictory function of the short course on “Laparoscope aided Artificial insemination and embryo transfer in sheep’’ was held on 23.01.2019 at Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute, Avikanagar. The training programme (10 days) was sponsored by Agricultural Education Division, ICAR, New Delhi. The session was chaired by Dr. A. Sahoo, Act. Director, heads and in-charges of various divisions. Thirteen participants from seven states (Haryana, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu) serving in state agriculture and veterinary universities and Animal Husbandry department were benefitted from the training. Course Director Dr. Krishnappa Balaganur, narrated that the reproductive technologies like oestrus synchronization, super ovulation, cryopreservation of semen and embryo, laparoscopic AI and Embryo transfer and ultrasonogaphy in sheep were demonstrated in the training program. Dr. Raghvendar Singh, Head, Division of Animal Physiology and Biochemistry briefed about the need of technologies for improving the productivity of the sheep and expressed that the participants should make use of the skills learnt during the training. The Director (Act) urged the importance of sheep sector in securing livelihood of the poor farmers and conveyed the message to make effective use of the techniques learnt during the short course. Certificates were distributed to the participants. The program was coordinated by Dr. Sanghratna.
