BackExposure Visit cum Farmers-Scientists’ interaction of participants of Asian Regional Conference on Goats (ARCG-2018) to ICAR-Central Sheep & Wool Research Institute, Avikanagar on 25th October, 2018
The Asian Regional Conference on Goats (ARCG-2018,22-26 October, 2018)being organized at Amity University, Jaipur had one day Exposure Visit cum Farmers-Scientists’ Interactionat ICAR-Central Sheep & Wool Research Institute (CSWRI), Avikanagar on 25th October, 2018. More than 200 participants including 130 delegates of the conference, 30 scientists and technical personnel and 50 progressive farmers took part in the event. On arrival at the campus, the dignitaries and participants were received byour Director, Dr Arun Kumar Tomar and Coordinator of the event Dr A. Sahoo and given a traditional Rajasthani welcome with folk song and dance ‘Algojja’, Camel Dance and traditional ‘Tilak’ by students of KendriyaVidyalaya, Avikanagar.
A ‘Technical Exhibition’ demonstrating different technological output of the Institute was arranged by CSWRI for extending scientific know-how to all Indian and foreign delegates, scientists, resource persons and progressive farmers. The participants showed keen interest in various adoptable technologies and research products of CSWRI and interacted with the concerned scientific personnel on genesis and future usage.
They have been taken to various livestock sectors (Sheep, goats and rabbits) and Veterinary Medicinal Plants Garden for on-farm interactive educational tour. The participants were apprised of the ongoing research activities and achievements of the relevant research projects by the concerned scientists. They have also interacted with the progressive farmers associated with different projects of the Institute during the event.
The Farmers-Scientists Interactive event extended to post-lunch technical session on ‘Socio-economic, marketing and financial issues in Asia’and it was chaired by Dr AvinashAnand, CEO, Uttarakhand Sheep & Wool Development Board (USWDB), co-chaired by Dr. R.S. Negi andrapporteured by Dr. G. S.Raghav. Prior to this, Dr Sahoowhole-heartedly welcomed the participants and farmers to the programme and president of International Goat Association (IGA), Dr. Beth Miller from USA was honoured with a Memento, Institute coarse wool-made flower bouquet and product Shawl by Director Dr Arun Kumar. The Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr G.K. Aseri and Organizing Secretary Dr Jagdip Singh Sohal were also welcomed with similar flower bouquet on this event.Three lead speakers Dr.RouhiDahiya, Vice Chancellor, JayotiVidyapeeth Women’s University, Jaipur; Dr. A.K. Shinde, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CSWRI, Avikanagar and Dr. A.K. Dixit, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CIRG, Makhdoompresented on socio-economic issues with special emphasis on marketing constraints and the participants deliberated on declining population trend, sustenance of small ruminant productivity and job-security. Dr. Arun Kumar, Director, ICAR-CSWRI, Avikanagarappraised the participants with his presentation concerning CSWRI activities, achievements and its contribution to national economy and progress.
The whole programme was coordinated by Dr A Sahoo, Head, Animal Nutrition Division and co-coordinated by Dr S SMisra, Senior Scientist (AG&B) under the guidance of Dr Arun Kumar, Director, ICAR-CSWRI, Avikanagar.
