BackVisit of Secretary, DARE & Director General ICAR to ARC, Bikaner
Dr Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary, DARE & Director General ICAR, New Delhi visited ICAR CSWRI ARC Bikaner (Rajasthan) on 02.10.2018, along with Dr Joykrushna Jena, Deputy Director General (Animal Science), ICAR, New Delhi. At the onset of programme, Dr Arun Kumar Tomar, Director, ICAR CSWRI, Avikanagar extended a warm welcome to Hon’ble Dr Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary, DARE & Director General ICAR, New Delhi for visiting ARC, Bikaner and Dr Joykrushna Jena, Deputy Director General, Animal science, ICAR, New Delhi. On the occasion, directors of the different ICAR Institute namely Dr OP Yadav, Director, ICAR CAZRI, Jodhpur, Dr P L Saroj, Director, CIAH, Bikaner, Dr BN Tripathi, Director, NRCE, Hisar were also present. Dr Tomar, presented overview, achievements and future plans of the institute. Over the years the institute has developed many sheep breeds and recently developed Avishan sheep breed which is more prolific and suitable for all climatic conditions of the region and also described other technology developed by the instiute.
Honorable Secretary DARE and DG ICAR, Dr Trilochan Mohapatra stressed on adopting integrated farming system to double farmers income by 2022. He also advised to collaborate with different ICAR institute for livelihood and nutritional security of the farmers. Farmers of the different villages also got opportunity to interact with the ICAR supremo and discussed about their problems in sheep farming and other allied agriculture sectors. DG and other dignitaries also visited Chokla sector. Honorable DG distributed Magra rams to the farmers of the adopted villages under NPWSI on Magra Field Unit Project for genetic improvement in farmers flock. He profusely appreciated the staff concerned for excellent upkeep animals and their surroundings. Interactive session was organized with local farmers as well as progressive sheep farmers in which answers of different queries of the farmers were given. DDG also addressed the gathering and assured to provide all kind of support for livestock farming and stressed on doubling the farmers income. Publications from the ARC and main institute were released by Honorable DG. Welcome of the dignitaries was done by Dr Arun Kumar Tomar, Director and vote of thanks was given by Dr H K Narula, Head, ARC, Bikaner.
