BackVisit of Director, ICAR-CSWRI at Arid Region Campus Bikaner from June 10-11,2018



Dr. Arun Kumar Tomar, Director, ICAR-CSWRI, Avikanagar visited Arid Region Campus of the Institute from 10-11th June, 2018 for appraisal of research and other activities at farm and field, achievements, infrastructural development, man-power etc. Dr. H K Narula, Head of station welcomed the Honorable Director CSWRI Dr. Arun Kumar Tomar and briefly introduced the activities, achievements, facilities created and major initiative at  ARC Bikaner. The Director visited all sheep sector for on spot appraisal of Chokla, Magra and Marwari sheep sectors and discussed at length regarding research targets, achievements, dissemination of the superior germplasm in the field for genetic improvement and difficulties being faced at farm and field. The Director also visited AI Lab and discussed regarding possibility of applicability of AI in field.

A meeting was also conducted in Conference Hall on 11th June 2018 to interact with all the staff of the ARC, Bikaner. Dr. H.K. Narula outlined the sphere and spread of research activities and highlighted significant achievements of the station. Director showed his satisfaction on the progress of station. He also stressed the need to devise a successful and profitable commercial sheep farming model to meet the increasing human demand for animal protein in the country. Dr Tomar asked the Scientists to start campaign for organic farming in agriculture and livestock in the adopted villages through TOT and Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav Programme. The Director appreciated the efforts of ARC Bikaner for supplying the rams, feeding trough and Multi Nutrient Mixture to the farmers of adopted villages under Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav Programme from the funding of ATMA, Bikaner and suggested to further strengthen it. He also underlined the importance to formulate appropriate strategies to combat the effects of climate change as sheep are mostly distributed in the regions with harsh climatic conditions. He also reminded the Hon’ble PM’s words about Clean and Green India and doubling the farmers income and asked to take the steps to fulfill the dream of PM.  The meeting ended with vote of thanks to Chair.
