BackCommencement of ICAR-sponsored Short-course on “Molecular Techniques in Sheep Reproduction” at ICAR-C.S.W.R.I., Avikanagar
A 10-days short-course titled “Molecular Techniques in Sheep Reproduction” from 14 - 23 May, 2018 sponsored by Education Division, ICAR, New Delhi was inaugurated at the Division of Animal Physiology and Biochemistry, ICAR-C.S.W.R.I., Avikanagar. The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Dr. Arun Kumar Tomar, Acting Director of the institute and attended by various head of the divisions, Dr. S. K. Sankhyan, In-charge HRD, Scientists, administrative and technical staffs. The programme started with the ICAR song. Dr. Raghvendar Singh, Head, Division of Animal Physiology and Biochemistry and the co-chairman of the programme outlined the course contents and highlighted the importance of the short-course. He also informed that the short-course was going to be a hands-on-training where the participants would have the opportunity to learn in their own hands various molecular techniques related to sheep reproduction. A total of 13 participants (Rajasthan - 5, Uttar Pradesh- 2, Jammu & Kashmir-1, West Bengal-2, Assam-1, Andhra Pradesh- 1, and Gujarat-1) from different corners of the country have joined in this course. The participants are working as Assistant Professor in various State Agricultural Universities, Scientist at ICAR institutes and KVKs. The acting director expressed a warm welcome to the participants and thanked them for participating in the course after travelling from long distances. He also highlighted the importance of sheep husbandry in the current socio-economic scenario and scope of entrepreneurship and organized industry in this sector. The course Director, Dr R K Paul welcomed the participants and briefed about the lectures and practical classes scheduled in the course. Dr Vijay Kumar, Scientist and course coordinator delivered vote of thanks. The programme ended with the National Anthem.
