BackIndustrial Visit of M.Sc. Biotechnology Students from Department of Biotechnology, Alva’s College, Moodbidri, Karnataka on 27th March 2017 to SRRC, Mannavanur

An industrial visit was made to Southern Regional Research Centre (SRRC), Mannavanur on 27^th March 2017 by a team from Department of Biotechnology, Alva’s College, Vidyagiri, Moodbidri, Mangalore, Karnataka -574 227.  The team consist of 21 (five boys and 16 girls) I & II year post graduate students, four Faculty and the same was led by Dr. Rama Bhat, P., Professor &Head, Post Graduate Department of Biotechnology. At the outset, Dr. A.S. Rajendiran, Officer In-charge & Principal Scientist briefed about the SRRC, Mannavanur and hopeful of getting DBT project soon. Usage of Biotechnological tools in health and production aspects of sheep husbandry was narrated by Dr. G. Nagarajan and Dr. Thirumaran, S.M.K., respectively. Then, the lectures on overall activities of sheep and rabbit sectors were delivered by Dr. S. Rajapandi and Sh. G. Murali, respectively. Students had shown their eagerness in learning the application of biotechnological tools in animal husbandry and interacted well with the faculty of SRRC. At last Dr. Rama Bhat gave positive feedback stating that this industrial visit was highly useful & informative and would be looking forward to have collaborative research proposals in the areas of animal biotechnology with SRRC in the future.
