BackRam and Kit distribution Programmeconducted under Malpura Project (MSSP) on 22-03-17

Superior breeding rams and kit were distributed to five farmer including three newly registered farmer by Director, ICAR- Central Sheep & Wool Research Institute (CSWRI), Avikanagar in the field component of the Malpura sheep seed project under ICAR-Mega Sheep Seed Project (ICAR-MSSP) on 22.03.2017 at Sector-18 of Animal Genetics & Breeding Division.    Farmers also interacted with Director, CSWRI, Head AGB and scientists of AGB division. During the interaction newly registered farmers from Dhuwaliya village under Phagi tehsil shared their view on various aspects of sheep rearing practices.  Director, CSWRI enquired about availability of pasture, water and marketing practices followed by the farmers. He encouraged the farmers to join the newly formed cooperative for sheep and goat farmers and sale the animals on body weight basis.  Five elite rams of Malpura sheep were distributed to 5 different farmers registered under the project.Farmers were also given kit comprising of First aid box, lamb feeding bottle, umbrella, water bottle and torch. 

Currently, Malpura project has 45 registered flocks in the field in 20 villages that covers nearly 4000 animals which are ear tagged or tattooed for scientific data recording. Improved rams of Malpura breed are supplied to the registered farmers and data on all the production, reproduction and disease aspects are collected and analyzed for research purpose.
