BackNICRA FIELD DAY & INAUGURATION OF CLIMATE CHAMBER



A ‘Field Day’ for the farmers of Malpura Tehsil was organised on 22 nd January, 2017. A total of more than 100 farmers participated in this programme. The programme was aimed at transferring technical knowhow on sheep and goat rearing under ensuing climate change scenario. Farmers were exposed to different facilities created under NICRA Research activity at ICAR-Central Sheep and Wool Resaerch Institute, Avikanagar, e.g. Cactus field, Senjana Field, Herbal Garden, Forage Demonstration Unit, Calf rearing during winter (thermal jacket made up of coarse wool for lambs, Umbrella-type portable lamb incubator for lamb to protect from night chill, silage making in plastic bags and drums, complete feed block made up of locally available alternate feed resources for sheep feeding, and different shelters for rearing sheep and goats.

On the eve of this occasion, Director General, ICAR and Secreatry, DARE Dr TrilochanaMohapatra and DDG (Animal Science), Dr Rehman inaugurated “Climate Chamber” that was installed under NICRA Project at this Institutein presence of Director, CSWRI, Dr S.M.K. Naqvi. They also visited different facilities created under NICRA Project and the activities that are being undertakenat the Institute. Project Investigator, Dr A. Sahoo and other associates including Scientists, Technical officers and Research Workers of Division of Animal Nutrition coordinated all these activities.
