BackDr. M. S. Chauhan, Director, ICAR-CIRG, Makhdoom and Project Coordinator (Goat Breeding) visited Sirohi Goat Unit, ICAR-CSWRI, Avikanagar



Dr. M. S. Chauhan, Director, ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Goat (CIRG), Makhdoom and Project Coordinator (Goat Breeding) visited Sirohi Goat Unit (AICRP on Goat Improvement), AG&B Division, ICAR-Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute, Avikanagar on 17.10.2016. Dr. S.M.K. Naqvi, Director, ICAR-CSWRI, Dr.A. Sahoo, Head, AN Division and Dr. L.L.L. Prince, Sr. Scientist (AG&B) accompanied him. Dr. M. S. Chauhan appreciated the performance and health status of the animals of the Sirohi unit. He was apprised that a total of 265 superior Sirohi animals were sold to farmers, Govt. agencies, NGOs etc. involved in improvement of Sirohi breed during 2015-16. He assured that budget support will be provided for renovation of sheds. He appreciated the initiative of Dr. S.M.K. Naqvi, Director in construction of innovative and permanent feed manger for proper feeding and watering of goats.

Dr. M. S. Chauhan was presided during administration of the Swachhta Shapath pledge by Director, CSWRI as part of the implementation of the Swachh Bharat Mission and inauguration of the Swachhta Pakhwada (16 - 3l October, 2016). Dr.Chauhan graced the closing function of first batch and inauguration of second batch of three month training programme on “Short term training course in woollen products manufacturing and designing” organized at ICAR-CSWRI.

Dr. M. S. Chauhan visited all the Sheep Sectors, wool plant of the institute and laboratories of different Divisions/Sections of the Institute andkeenly discussed about research projects being carried out with the scientists.Later, Dr.Arun Kumar Head (AGB) interacted with Project Coordinator (Goat Breeding) and apprised about the ongoing activities of the division, highlighted the contribution of the Sirohi unit in bringing about improvement in the farmers’ flock in nearby as well as other areas and willing to strengthen the field component in the unit.  Dr. M. S. Chauhan assured that necessary financial support will be provided for more and effective coverage of field flocks.
