Back Veterinary Students of SKUAST Jammu visited ICAR-NTRS Garsa
A group of 45 final year Veterinary Science students from Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and technology of Jammu, visited ICAR-NTRS (CSWRI) Garsa on 13-10-2016. A series of lectures was organized by the scientists of the station to make the visitors aware about different dimensions of research on sheep and wool production in our country. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. O.H. Chaturvedi, Head ICAR-NTRS explained recent advances in research on sheep nutrition. Dr. S.R. Sharma, discussed on health problems and diseases of sheep and their management. Dr. Indrasen Chauhan explained the importance of different indigenous as well as exotic sheep breeds for wool and mutton production. Dr. Debabrata Sethi, gave a view of changing scenario in sheep and wool production in light of decreasing sheep population in sheep dominant regions and scope of entrepreneurship in commercial lamb raising unit. The visiting students visited livestock sectors, fodder production sectors and other facilities at the station. The group of students was led by Dr. Ankur Rastogi (Assistant Professor, Animal Nutrition) and Dr. Prateeksha Raghuvanshi (Assistant Professor, Veterinary Biochemistry), of SKUAST, Jammu.
