BackICAR-Sponsored Short Course Inaugurated at ICAR-CSWRI on 11-07-16
The ICAR sponsored short course on “Recent models and methods for analysis of farm animal data for devising suitable breeding and management strategy” organised by Animal Genetics and Breeding Division from 11.07.16 to 20.07.16 conducted at ICAR-CSWRI, Avikanagar started on 11.07.16. Twenty three participants including six women participants belonging to state agricultural university, veterinary university, and ICAR- institutes as well other research organisations are attending the training. The candidate are from 11 states (Kerala, Assam, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Telangana, A.P., Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujrat, UP). Dr. S. M. K. Naqvi, Director, CSWRI welcomed the participants and introduced the gathering with institute research activity. Course Director of the program, Dr.Ved Prakash briefed about the activities to be conducted during the program. The program will include theory and practical sessions on farm animal data analysis for making suitable breeding and management strategy. The use of software packages like PEGIREE VIWER, ENDOG, SAS, R, SPSS, WOMBAT, and MTGSAM for data analysis will imparted during practical sessions. The training on maternal genetic effect model, Bayesian approach, Random Regression Model will be also imparted. Basic genomic study methods like genome analysis, allele substitution effect, gene expression and sequence based typing will be also covered. The program was coordinated by Dr.Arun Kumar, Head AGB.
