BackSuccessful completion of Hands-on-training on Oestrus Synchronization and Artificial Insemination in Sheep
The valedictory function of the short-course “Hands-on-training on Oestrus Synchronization and Artificial Insemination in Sheep” organized by the Division of Animal Physiology and Biochemistry, ICAR-CSWRI from 15th - 21st March, 2016 was held today. Dr. S. K. Srivastava, Pr. Scientist, Animal Reproduction Division, IVRI, Izatnagar chaired as the Chief Guest and the programme was presided over by Dr. S.M.K. Naqvi, Director of the institute and attended by various head/In-charge of the divisions, Scientists, administrative and technical staffs. Dr. R. K. Paul, course coordinator presented the activities carried out during the training programme and informed that the participants were exposed to hands-on-practices of various techniques both in the laboratory and at the farmers’ flock. Ten participants from five different states (Assam - 1, Andhra Pradesh - 1, Jammu & Kashmir -3, Uttarakhand -3 and Rajasthan - 2) working as Veterinary surgeon, Assistant professor and Scientist joined this course. The chief guest highlighted about current status of AI in sheep both in India and abroad and suggested for developing some devices for improving cervical penetration during AI. The director in his speech highlighted the economic benefits of the training for the sheep farmers and urged to the participants to consult with their state departments for successful implementation of AI in sheep in their home states. Dr. Krishnappa, course co-coordinator delivered the vote of thanks. The program ended with the National Anthem.
