BackIndustrial Visit of B.Tech (Textiles) students to SRRC Mannavanur on 08.02.2013
Dr.R.Sivakumar, Head of the Department, Textile Technology, Bannari Amman Institute of Technology, Sathyamangalam, Erode District (TN) sent 24 Students of B.Tech (Textile & Fashion Technology) along with 2 faculty members on their Industrial Visit to SRRC Mannavanur on 08.02.2013. The Textile & Fashion Technology students have their core subject based on Textile fibres in their B.Tech program. They could see wool and woollen products based on Bharat Merino sheep, and Angora rabbits.
Dr. A. S. Rajendiran, Principal Scientist and Officer Incharge of SRRC Mannavanur delivered Lecture to these students on Bharat Merino sheep, Angora rabbit, wool and utilization of wool aspects. Interactive session on wool utilization was organized with the help of Sh.G.Murali, T-4, and Sh.K.Ganesan, T-2. All the woollen products were also displayed to them. The difference between Sheep wool and Angora hair fibre was explained elaborately. Similarly, they were told about the method to detect synthetic fibres and differentiate from natural fibres.
All the students had gained practical knowledge on wool and its utilization, as part of their subject and they expressed their gratitude to CSWRI as whole for having given them adequate information of animal fibres and their utilization. The students felt very happy for updating their relevent technical knowledge.
