BackDirector visited ICAR-North Temperate Regional Station



Dr. S.M.K. Naqvi, Director ICAR-Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute, Avikanagar visited ICAR-North Temperate Regional Station at Garsa, District Kullu (Himachal Pradesh) during December 23 to 26, 2015. During this visit, he presided over a meeting on 23-12-2015 with the scientific, technical, administrative and supporting staff of the station. He discussed day to day problems faced at the station in details and suggested necessary measures with respect to Research, Extension, Livestock, Administration, Estate and Revenue generation. He also advised to take new programmes viz. Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) work in Himachal Pradesh and addition of improved germplasm in the sheep flock at NTRS, Garsa. He visited the Sheep Sector, Farm Area and Residential Complex at the station on December 24, 2015. He was made aware about by the progress of the research project and other activities.  He visited major sheep rearing area in Parvati valley on December 24, 2015 and discussed with shepherds on the problems faced by them during different seasons. On 25-12-2015, he presided over the farmer interaction cum Kisan Gosthi and field day at village Shuru in Manali valley. He discussed about the possibility of starting Institute-Farmer participatory programme in the said village. Sheep breeders expressed their interest in starting such programme at their village. Shepherds and livestock owners stressed on availability of quality ram for improvement in their flock and resulting income from sheep rearing. Scientists of the station namely Dr. O. H. Chaturvedi, Dr. S. R. Sharma and Dr. D. Sethi organised the programme at village Shuru. Shri Atma Ram, Chandu Ram, Dasu Ram and other farmers actively participated in the Kisan Gosthi and field day.
