BackDistribution of superior germplasm of Sheep & Goat by CSWRI, Avikanagar under Tribal sub - Plan Project at Aspur in Dungarpur



The Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute, Avikanagar (Indian Council of Agricultural Research) organized a Tribal Kishan Gosthy at Aspur block in Dungarpur District of Rajasthan on 26.03.2015 under Tribal Sub Plan Project. Dr. AK. Tomar, Head, Division of Animal Breeding & Genetics was the chief guest of the function. Shri Kartar Singh, Project Officer, TAD, Dungarpur, Government of Rajasthan was the special guest of this function. The total population of tribal communities is 9, 83,437, which contribute about 74.4 % of total population of Dungarpur district. The caste composition of tribal communities includes Bhil, Bhil – mina, Garasia, Damor, Damaria, Dungri bhil & Dungri garasia.

On this occasion improved technologies were demonstrated & exhibition on sheep & goat were displayed in the pictorial form. 20 tribal beneficiaries were provided Elite germplasm of sheep (10 Rams) and goat (10 Bucks) under the Tribal sub Plan Project.

Beside 100 kg Cenchrus grass seed, 20 kg Azolla green fodder seed, 200 Veterinary & 200 Agricultural kits & 550 kg plated concentrate ration were also distributed to Tribal beneficiaries. About 225 tribal beneficiaries were participated and benefited by this program.

A Chopal program was also organized at Tribal Village Khera Samor near Aspur in Dungarpur District on 25.03.2015 in the evening. About 200 tribal beneficiaries were participated in the chopal program. The tribal families were encouraged in the chopal program to use improved technologies of small ruminant production to improve their socio - economic status and livelihood.
