BackOne day Interactive Meeting (03-03-2015) with Garlic Farmers Regarding Utility of Sheep Manure
In Collaboration with the Horticultural Research Station, TNAU, Kodaikanal and Horticultural College and Research Institute, Periyakulam, an interactive meeting with the farmers of Mannavanur was conducted on 3rd March, 2015. These farmers were engaged in the cultivation of high altitude garlic varieties, the predominant cash crop of the Kodai hills. The farmers were of the opinion that the sheep manure usage in the garlic cultivation provided better yield and bigger sized cloves as compared to cattle manure and other synthetic fertilizers. This may be attributed to the alkaline nature and richness of micronutrients like selenium and Boran in sheep manure. The farmers are demanding more supply of sheep manure. Fifty farmers participated and got benefitted.
