BackTraining programme on Advances in Sheep Production
A training programme on “Advances in sheep production” was organized by division of Transfer of Technology and Social Sciences from 04-06 December 2014. A total of 45 farmers of Raika community from Jaisalmer district participated in the programme. The training programme was sponsored by Dept. of Sciences and Technology, New Delhi through Shiksha Rojgar Kendra Prabhandhak Samiti (SRKPS), Jhunjhunu (Rajasthan). In the training, farmers were given exposure to sheep breeding, nutrition, health, physiology, fodder crops, wool technology, transfer of technology etc. in detail. Farmers were taught about the importance of breeding strategy in flock, role of elite ram in the flock, importance of feeding concentrate mixture during late gestation and early lactation period, important diseases of sheep, role of feeding mineral mixture, feeding during lean periods spinning of wool into products, increasing fodder production etc. Farmers were explained about prolific sheep, advantages of estrus induction and synchronization, advantages of timely vaccination and deworming in animals etc. in the training progamme. The participant farmers visited exhibition unit, different sheep sectors, goat sector, micro watershed demonstration area, feed technology unit and wool plant of the institute.
