BackProlific Breeding Rams Distribution and KisanGosthi at CSWRI
Breeding ramsdistribution of Prolific Sheep and KisanGoshthiwas organised at sheep sector 12 of Animal Genetics & Breeding Division involving farmers from Institute- Farmer Participatory Programme on 23.09.2014. The Ramsdistribution of Prolific sheep is a new feather of success in the Institute’s cap as this is the first step towards testing the performance of Prolific sheep in the field. The newly developed genotype has high body weight along with prolificacyand adequate milk inthe damsandthis germ plasm will be helpful to meet out the huge demand of mutton production of the country. The performance of thesedistributed rams will be evaluated at the farmer door. The said event was conducted underChairmanship of Dr.S.M.K. Naqvi, Director CSWRI. He emphasised the importance of prolific sheep in the era of reducing pastures where maximum output from the minimum resources can be achieved.Dr.Arun Kumar, Head, Animal Genetics & Breeding co-ordinated the programme and detailed the perspectives of the breed improvement programmes. Dr.R. C. Sharma, Principal Investigator of the Prolific sheep project detailed the progress the project and hoped that the future of such prolific sheepis bright and it will prove a boon to the sheep rears of the region.Dr. D. R. Suthar, SDM, Malpura was the Chief Guest of the function.He interacted with the farmers and asked themto take full advantage of technologies developed by CSWRI. On this occasion different Heads/ incharges of scientific divisionsexpressed their views. The farmers also put their views and interacted with different subject matter specialists.
