BackINOUGRATION OF A.I. TRAINING



A training programme of seven days on “Demonstration of Oestrus Synchronization and Artificial Insemination in Sheep’’ was inaugurated for Veterinary Officers of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir on 03.09.2014. The training programme is a culmination of research contribution made by the scientists of Division of Physiology and Biochemistry under the dynamic leadership and able guidance of Dr. S.M.K. Naqvi, Director CSWRI. Dr. Naqvi emphasised the need of artificial insemination for genetic improvement of sheep under field conditions in order to enhance the wool and mutton production in the country. He described the benefits of oestrus synchronization and also motivated the participants to disseminate fix-time artificial insemination at grass root level with targeted number of animals. Dr. Arun Tomar, Head, Division of Animal Genetics and Breeding, Dr. A. Sahoo, Head, Animal Nutrition Division, Dr. R. Gulyani, I/C TOT & SS and Dr. A.K. Shinde, I/C PME were present to grace the occasion. Dr. Davendra Kumar, I/C Head, Division of Animal Physiology and Biochemistry and Course Coordinator of the training programme given glimpse of the training programme. He narrated that the lecture and practical classes have been scheduled in such a way that all the participants will get ample scope to understand and learn these reproductive techniques. This training programme is one of its kind and second of the year 2014-15 where these two reproductive technologies will be demonstrated at farmer’s flock in the field. Dr. Kalyan De, Scientist, Division of Animal Physiology and Biochemistry is Course Co-Coordinator for this training programme. The program was coordinated by Dr. Krishnappa, Scientist, Division of Animal Physiology and Biochemistry. The Central Wool Development Board, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India is acknowledged for sponsoring this training programme.
