BackSouthern Regional Research Centre (SRRC), ICAR-CSWRI organized a self- sponsored training programme for rabbit farmers of Tamilnadu and Kerala (24 -26 September 2024)
From 24 – 26, September 2024, Southern Regional Research Centre of ICAR-
CSWRI, Mannavanur organized a self-sponsored training programme for rabbit
farmers. A total of 16 farmers from Dindigul, Trichy, Namakkal, Theni, Madurai,
Dharmapuri, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Kanyakumari, Cuddalore districts of Tamil Nadu
and Kannur district of Kerala. On the inaugural ceremony, in his opening address,
Dr.P.Thirumurugan, Officer In-charge, gratefully remembered the continuing support
and encouragement from Dr. Arun Kumar Tomar, Director, ICAR-CSWRI for
organizing training programs to farmers. Mr. Mani Shankar, Assistant Manager of
Punjab National Bank, Mannavanur graced the occasion and addressed with
information on bank schemes for farmers and agriculture loans. Lecture and hands-
on practical sessions on handling, sexing, restraint, housing, cage design, breeding,
feeding & nutrition, health management and slaughter techniques of rabbits were
conducted. All of them were encouraged to participate in interaction and all the
queries posed to the scientists were duly answered. Further, on the valedictory
session, an exclusive interactive session was also held. This programme was
coordinated by Dr. S. Jegaveera Pandian, Senior Scientist and co-coordinated by
Dr. A.S. Rajendiran, Principal Scientist and Dr. K. Pachaiyappan, Scientist of
Southern Regional Research Centre. On successful completion of training,
certificates were distributed to the farmers.
