BackSouthern Regional Research Centre, ICAR-CSWRI, Mannavanur organized self-sponsored three-day rabbit farmers training during March 13 – 15, 2024
The Southern Regional Research Centre of ICAR – CSWRI organized a self-sponsored three-day training programme for rabbit farmers of Southern India. Twenty-six (26) Farmers from Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry have participated in the training entitled “Hands-on training on Technological updates in profitable broiler rabbit production” during 13 – 15, March 2024. Farmers were from Coimbatore, Dindigul, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupur, Madurai, Thanajavur, Erode, Ramanathapuram, Tirunelveli, Nilgiris, Ariyalur and Perambalur districts of TN, Thrissur district of Kerala and UT of Puducherry. Under the able-leadership and guidance of Dr. Arun Kumar Tomar, the Director, ICAR-CSWRI, this self-sponsored training programme was 8th of this series from April, 2022. Lectures were from various facets of rabbitry like breeding, feeding, health, fodder cultivation and practical sessions of handling, restraint, sexing, pregnancy diagnosis, slaughter, postmortem examination, documentation and consultation with experts, economics and marketing of rabbit meat. Trainees interacted with scientists of the centre and expressed their satisfaction and gratitude and satisfaction over the programme. Dr.P.Thirumurugan, Officer Incharge, SRRC, in his valedictory address, expressed his willingness to extend SRRC’s technical support to young educated entrepreneurs in their rabbitries. Further, Mr. Arul Kumar, Progressive farmer Mrs. Anitha Banu, Mr. Mohanraj, Mr. Boopathi and Mr. Abu Proprietors NexGen Rabbitries (P) ltd, Madurai joined and shared their experience in the valedictory function. Dr. S. Jegaveera Pandian, Senior Scientist coordinated and did supervision for overall success of the training and Dr. Pachaiyappan K, Scientist and Mr. G. Murali, ACTO assisted in coordinating this successful training programme.
