BackThree-days self-sponsored training for rabbit farmers of Tamilnadu and Puducherry conducted at SRRC, ICAR-CSWRI Mannavanur
In a series of training programmes being organized at SRRC for rabbit farmers, a three- days hands-on training programme for the rabbit farmers was conducted at Southern Regional Research Centre of ICAR-CSWRI, Mannavanur between 22.08.2023 to 24.08.2023. A total of 13 farmers attended the training. Farmers were from Coimbatore, Pollachi, Tirunelveli, Chennai, Cuddalore, Karur, Dindigul districts of Tamilnadu and the UT of Puducherry. All the aspects like housing, breeding, feeding, health, meat production, marketing, were extensively covered in the training programme. Practical aspects of handling, restraining, sexing, breeding, pregnancy diagnosis, feed formulation, slaughter studies were elaborately explained to the farmers. All the trainees took part in all the sessions with enthusiasm. Their practical difficulties and doubts were cleared during the extensive interactions with scientists of SRRC.
At the valedictory session on 24.08.2023, trainees expressed satisfaction and gratitude for giving them clarity in every aspect of rabbitry. They profusely thanked the Team SRRC and ICAR-CSWRI for offering a practical training that instilled confidence in them so as to take up rabbitry as a full-time means of livelihood. This training programme was organized under the guidance of A. K. Tomar, the Director, ICAR-CSWRI, mentoring of P.Thirumurugan, OIC, SRRC, and co-ordinated by Pachaiyappan.K. Scientist (Veterinary Extension) Overall arrangements were taken care of by S. Jegaveera Pandian, i/c Rabbit Unit and Mr.G.Murali, Senior Technical Officer, Southern Regional Research Centre, Mannavanur.
